In the sub-project "Urban Mobility - Mobility and Society" of the profile region Karlsruhe, the professorship for International Urban Development and Design deals with the effects of new mobility systems on the design and use of urban spaces. The focus is on questions about the spatial potential of areas formerly used for parking that are freed up by autonomous driving and, for example, for the classification of green spaces, cycle paths, etc. could be used. The Oststadt in Karlsruhe serves as the study area. It is investigated what possible changes of use and design exist. Design parameters are identified for the transformations and measures are proposed. Different scenarios of future urban spaces are visualized with collage-like representations.
